Abstract |
: |
Evolved academic libraries Arabia (SALs) towards the use of electronic sources since 1992. So this study aims to investigate the extent to which you where SALs to adopt changes in the electronic journals (in rules bibliographic or full text) and their impact on groups periodicals printed during the years 1995 - 2000. The study also explores the impact of electronic journals on management process groups, periodicals and on the criteria that are important in the decision-making process management for electronic journals. The aim of this study is to incorporate a specific number of administrative methods or factors important criteria for management decision-making electronic periodicals groups. In addition to this study no comparison between those applicable standards of SALs in administrative decision-making for the management of electronic journals groups and those taken in the global guidelines and taken in two of the university libraries in Britain, in addition to what is applied in the report. The data analysis focused on understanding the basic properties of SALs and build organizational development of electronic journals and their effects. Of the most important results are found in the study group electronic journals has increased steadily in 1996 by 98%, which coincided with a steady increase in its budget, which amounted to 125%. The volume of printed periodicals groups has not increased significantly and remained stable between 1997 and 2000, and the supply in the field of electronic journals under restricted field of pure and applied sciences, technology and social sciences. Pena was found that most of the electronic journals subscribed by the bibliographic format, which clearly indicates that the transition to electronic media in SALs was somewhat surprising in 1997 the possibility it was caused by the differences in the budget and the management of groups periodicals. The result of the study that they are able to apply MIS model to help them deal with the existing problems in the process of adopting the field of information technology. The study also resulted in the electronic journals have a positive impact on services, equipment and facilities. He developed a positive relationship and statistically significant between cost and periodicals and groups statistically significant relationship between employment and services and staffing, equipment and facilities. While it did not show any statistically significant relationship between the activities of three functions (management, information services and technical services) and their assessment of the important criteria for management decision-making for electronic periodicals which indicates different according to different functional activities for library and information professionals in SALs.
