Abstract : Geographic Information Systems are valuable not only for geographic , but also for professionals from various disciplines , such as environment, criminology , archeology geographic history, marketing and others… GIS's contain both spatial information; which includes maps, aerial photographies and satellite images , beside descriptive Information which includes quantitive and qualitative data. The study aims to identify the approaches of information retrieval in GIS's .The analytical method has been adopted to study Information retrieval in "National Digital Forecast Database" (NDFD) produced by NOAA "National Oceanic and Atmospheric administration".
