Abstract : The study aims at defining the procedures followed by the Deanship of Library Affairs at Umm Al-Qura University to protect its own information network; whether these measures are related to the physical aspects and devices or related to the information security. The study is focusing on the protection of the security of information from multiple aspects as follows: 1. Protecting the network against intrusion 2. Network protection against data loss or damage The study reviews the methods used to protect the networks in general; including equipment, software and instructions necessary to achieve the security, with the clarification taken in Umm Al-Qura University; in order to identify the adequacy of those methods to protect the security of information. The study highlights the security problems faced by the Information Network of Umm Al-Qura University since its inception, and the methods that have been followed to overcome them, and dealing with aspects such as the users of the network and the extent of their experience and knowledge to deal with the problems they face in this regard, and the extent of their knowledge of ways to protect the security of information on the Web, also addresses the library policy in dealing with the beneficiaries to ensure the protection of the information network. The study uses a case study approach to describe the status quo in the information network of Umm Al-Qura University and highlight its pros and cons. The study uses some data collection tools such as interview and checklist. Translated by team
