Abstract : Sevel1leen cases of giant cell granulomas and five cases of giant cell tumors were included in this study. The visualization ror the detection system or the two antibodies Ki67 and Mac387 was applied using the LSAB (Iabelcd strept avidin biotin technique). The proliferative index (Ki67) in the giant cell tumor was strikingly increased as brown or red nuclear reactivity as compared with the granulomas. The macrophages. using the monoclonal antibody Mac 387, was distributed heterogeneously in the giant cell tumour while in granulomas, it showed vivid intense cytoplasmic reactivity. According to the results, the macrophages seem to play an active preventive role for neoplasia.
