Document Language : English
Abstract : Ectodermal dysplasia is a group of clinically and genetically diverse conditions affecting tissues of ectodermal Origin including the teeth. Dental prosthesis are important for children suffering anadontia to improve their phonetics, esthetics, functional efficiency and comfort. This work was designed to study the production of some Arabic articulatory sounds jn complete denture wearers before and after denture relining with soft permanent liner. Ten Egyptian female children suffering from ectodermal dysplasia and with complete anadontia were included in the study. Certain Arabic speech sounds were recorded and evaluated for each patient by auditory perceptive assessment and instrumental analysis using electropalatograph. Complete dentures were constructed and results were recorded. Relining was applied to the upper denture and same procedures of evaluation were performed. Records revealed that after upper complete denture insertion minimal speech defects were observed and a positive response during pronounciating certain Arabic letters appeared after relining
