Abstract : Histologic reports of dental implants retrieved from patients have rarely appeared in the literature; however the results gained from the histologic examination of soft tissue surrounding both titanium and stainless steel implants are extremely important . This study presents the clinical and the tissue changes reaction of ten patients ranged from 25-40 years old after the immediate insertion of titanium and stainless steel implants in sockets after tooth extraction . More fibroblastic activity with less inflammatory cells reactions was observed in patients with titanium implants than in patients with stainless steel implants. Also less metal impregnation in the soft tissue covering the titanium was found than in the tissue covering the stainless steel implants. Immediate placement of the implant after teeth extraction preserve the alveolar ridge and soft tissues preventing their atrophy and reduce time and costs. Titanium material has been accepted to be more biocompatible than the stainless steel material.
