Abstract : This thesis explores the method of the early scholars in treating the grammatical problems and investigates its different applications in the books of the meanings of Qur'an for Al-Farra', Al-Akhfash and Al-Nahhas who represent the first three grammatical schools as Al-Farra' is a kufi grammarian, Al-Akhfash is a Basri grammarian and Al-Nahhas an Egyptian scholar studied in the schools of Basra and Kufa. All of the three books shares one title "The Meanings of Qur'an" and being interested in exegesis of Qur'an and the grammatical facets of Qur'anic verses. The thesis states that the method of treating the grammatical problems is divided into three main sections as they try to paraphrase the grammatical evidences, refuse them or leave them with no action considering them anomalous ones. The thesis has practiced the different scientific procedures as collecting data, analysis, description, categorization, explanation and sating the probability. It has adopted the prescriptive method because of the special nature of the case of Arabic. Chapter I investigates the method of grammatical paraphrasing through four topics dedicated for the notions of considering the meaning "Haml 'alaa al- ma'na", expanding "Ittesaa'", inclusion "Tadhmeen" and replacement" "Neyabah". Each topic discusses the lexical meaning of the notion and its terminology. It also gives a definition for the notion. It investigates how each employed in sating the grammatical facets. It demonstrates its applications in the three books. Chapter II deals with the method of refusing the grammatical evidences through two topics about the notion and its dimensions and its existence in the grammatical books and the three books of the meanings of Qur'an. Chapter III studies the method of leaving the grammatical with no action considering them anomalous ones through two topics about the notion and its dimensions, and its applications in the three books.
