Abstract : This study is concerned with research in political terms found in the documents of the eras of the prophet and caliphs. It studies these terms within the framework of the theory of semantic fields. Its title is "Political terms in the documents of the eras of the prophet and caliphs; a semantic analytical study". It consists of three chapters preceded by an introduction and a preface and followed by some indices. The introduction discusses the subject matter of the study, its importance, objectives, problems, methods, hypotheses, survey and research plan. The preface deals with the notion of the "meaning" and its development, political terms and the documents of the era of the prophet and caliphs. Chapter I, is dedicated for "the political entities and groups". It has studied 22 political terms. Chapter II is concerned with the political positions and titles. It has studied 25 political terms of them. Chapter III entitled "The terms of the political acts and systems" is a study of 26 political terms relating to the political acts and systems in the stated eras. The conclusion includes the results the study has achieved and the recommendations it gives. The study has differentiated between the historical political terms and developed ones. It has studied the development, death and extinction of the political terms. It has classified the political terms according to its origin. It has discussed the role of the context in their meaning. The conclusion refers to the importance of such study to Semantics in general and to the theory of lexical fields. The study has different indices including references
