Abstract : The study aimed to know the relationship between cognitive distortions and aggression in norcotics addictsandnon addicts in cognitive distortions and aggression , the researcher used the descriptive method . the sample cossisted of a group of norcotic addicts (200) participants selected from the patients of Alamal Hospital in Jeddah . the secondgroups was cossisted of non – addicts selected from the general population of Jeddah (200) participasts , the two groups were equal in age, educational level marital status and accupation , The researcher applied the preliminary data sheet aggressive behavior scoleprepared by Baza (2003) and the cognitive distortions scale prepared by the researcher himself. The researcher applied the tools on the participants and the study revealed the following results : there are positive statistically significant relationship between cognitive distortions and aggression , the statistically significant correlated cognitive distortions were arbitrary reasoning cotas -trophizing thinking over generalization either or thinking , personification mind reading blame throwing emotional reasoning heaven gift and the total degree of Genitive distortions , Cognitive distortions interpreted an amount of variance in aggression ranged from 1.96% to 61% . there were statistically significant differences between narcotic addicts and non-addicts in cognitive distortions there were statistically significant differences between norcatic addicts and non addicts in aggression . Norcatics were statistically significant higher them non addicts in verbal aggression aggressiveness anger and total aggression.
