Abstract : The current study aims at establishing a standardized reference for critical success factors for initiatives of knowledge management in governmental and private sectors in Saudi Arabia; it is expected that this reference will maximize benefits and mitigate possible failures facing these initiatives. This could be achieved through providing decision makers with scientific background necessary for putting forwards future plans that make appropriate utilization of budgets and investments designated for this purpose .The study depended on the content analysis approach to prepare a preliminary list for critical success factors of knowledge management in addition to the embedded items within these factors. To achieve this purpose, a thorough review of literature for previous published researches was carried out from which the list was established. The study adopted the Delphi approach, which is considered the most widely, used and accepted method for gathering data from respondents within their domain of expertise. Based on responses of the experts in governmental, semi-governmental and private sectors along three rounds, a refined list for critical success factors for knowledge management in organizations in Saudi Arabia from perspectives of experts was developed.
