Abstract : The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of A Rational -Emotive counseling program to improve personal adjustment of female students at psychology department in King Abdul Aziz University. The number of the total sample was (32) students, divided equally into two groups: the experimental group (16) students, and the control group (16) students. The researcher used the Personal Adjustment Scale prepared by Tagreed Alnajar (2005), and the Counseling Program prepared by the researcher. Using statistical analysis (SPSS) the researcher found that there were significant differences at the level of (0.01) between the averages of the two groups (experimental and control) on the personal scale in favor of the experimental group after implementation of the program, and there were significant Statistical differences at the level of (0.01) between averages of experimental group grades before and after (pre – post) attending the program on the scale of personal Adjustment. There were no significant differences between averages of experimental group grades after the program and six weeks later (post - follow up). According to this result of the study the researcher recommends applying the Counseling Program to all students in different study levels and majors because personal adjustment is an essential requirement for all university students.
