Abstract : The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of a proposed programme of popular games on developing social values of preschool children at Makkah city and used the semi-experimental method which is based on experimental and control groups.The population consists of preschool children in Makkah city while the sample consists of 44 children studying in two classes (E and F) at the (fifth) kindergarten in Makkah city. The tools used in the study are: Social value measurement and 8 popular games. Person Correlation Coefficient, T-test and growth ratio are the statistical methods used in the study. The main results of the study are that there are statistical differences between the experimental and control groups in terms of post-application of the measurement in favor of the experimental group. and that there are statistical differences between post and pre-application of the measurement in the experimental group in favor of the post-application except the value of commitment to the system, and that the growth rates (effect size) of all four social values are high to moderate. The study presents several recommendations and proposals such as the necessity to include popular games in the kindergarten’s activities in order to develop and enhance social values in preschool children, and designing various programmes to enhance and develop values in general and social values in particular in children at preschool stage, and that similar studies should be made on a larger sample of children.
