All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, and peace and blessings of Allah be upon His messenger, Mohammad,the seal of prophets.
This paper [Jam'ae Al-Tafaseer as a narration-based, opinion-oriented, compilation and study book of exegesis] is an academic paper presented by the student Eman Omar Basaad for obtaining the MA degree in Islamic Studies, major: Kitab and Sunnah. The paper is a completion of previous research papers.
The subject of my study is Surat Al-Baqarah, verses (272-283) as a narration-based, opinion-oriented, compilation and study endeavour through which the sources of the Quran's exegesis and their development are identified. Also, the methods of the commentators in writing the commentaries are considered, in addition to practising the process of compiling the commentators' statements and giving preference to one of them. Besides, the scientific benefit is made of what have been studied during the academic year, such as documenting the narrations and attributing them to their sources, participating in the scientific efforts to produce an encyclopedia of exegesis that is based on a solid scientific methodology.
My plan in this research consists of an introduction, three chapters, a conclusion and indexes.
- The Introduction: In which I state my method in the research, which is to compile the explanations of the Quranic verses that are mentioned in the traditions, and the opinion-oriented exegesis and all that is related to it. The aim is to attain the honor of serving the Book of Allah.
- Chapters of the research: The nature of the research necessitates dividing it into three chapters, each chapter has sections, and each section has topics having an issue for each one, which I explain in the Introduction. The titles of the chapters, in the light of which the research is divided, are as follows:
- Chapter One: The merit of expending (in charity) and exhorting to it (verses 272-274).
- Chapter Two: The Islamic economy and its stand on usury (275-281).
- Chapter Three: Documenting the deferred debt in writing, by taking witnesses or by taking a security deposit (282-283).
- The Conclusion: In which I state the most important results I reach, among which is:
- Glorifying the Creator and the Disposer of all creatures by submitting to His Judgement.
Finally, the paper is appended with the most important scientific indexes.
