Abstract : Punishment involving deprivation of liberty, in particular imprisonment are penalties in most countries of the world, we find that the negative effects on the individual and thus for society and the country as a whole and it demonstrate an adverse social, economic and cultural effects. Study aimed to identify the opinion of specialists in application of working for public benefit as alternative punishment to imprisonment. Use Social Survey Methodology Data was collected by questionnaire involved (36) judges, (62) officers of the correctional institutions and (337) prisoners. The results showed that the specialists had supported work penalty for public benefit as an alternative to imprisonment where judges (81.71%), correctional staff (100%), and the Commission on compassion (100%). However, (18.29%) of judges did not support application of penalty for public benefit. Study concluded that application of working for public benefit as alternative punishment to imprisonment is beneficial to society, convicted persons, their families and to reformatory institutions.
