Abstract : The study aimed to identify the Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) currently used in the Information Technology Department at the Saudi Aramco Company through highlighting two important aspects: the first aspect is the degree of use, while the second aspect focuses on the effectiveness of these systems use in terms of comprehensiveness of the information provided, flexibility of information, accuracy of the information, clarity of information, and the timely access to information. The research descriptive method and the case study method have been selected for this research. Moreover, the study has used the questionnaire as a main tool for data collection and analysis, in addition to the simple random sampling method in selecting the study sample. The study results revealed that (15) fifteen KMS are used by the Information Technology Department. These systems include the ones used to create knowledge, store and organize knowledge, and redistribute and share knowledge. The systems used are classified as the Knowledge Elicitation Systems, Case-Based Reasoning Systems, Expert Systems, Discovering New Knowledge Data Mining, Decision Support Systems, Computer Communication technology and Web-based discussion groups, Automation Office Systems, and Knowledge Repositories Systems. The order of the first five KMS were as follows: Online Training System (e-Learning), Remedy Incident Management System, Microsoft Office Applications, Customer Request Manage System (CRM), and Shahed System. As for the systems effectiveness, most systems were classified as very effective or average. The study came-up with several recommendations including: the need to strengthen the KMS's culture within the organization, examine ways to improve the used KMS in term of efficiency and effectiveness, continue search for new knowledge management technology systems, and increase the ability to protect and secure the KMS used.
