Abstract : This study aimed to identify the effectiveness of the use of sustainable practice (Zero Waste) in the ready-made garments industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the application of three different strategies they are: Jigsaw, Tessellation and Subtraction Cutting strategies using the sustainable practice (zero-waste) and the attempt to reach a high quality product technically and environmentally. With the aim to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher utilized the experimental descriptive approach, where she aimed at conducting a comparative study between two methods of patterns. One method is implemented by applying the specified strategy and comparing it with the flat pattern method of producing the design. The sample of the study consisted of 6 pieces, 3 pieces are implemented according to the specified strategies and the other 3 pieces are implemented according to the flat method to obtain the same design. An arbitration form was used by the specialists (for the patterns implemented using the new strategies) as well as an assessment scale for measuring the adjustment of the implemented patterns as tools of the study. The results showed statistically significant differences in fabrics loss ratios between the samples implemented according to the specified strategies using the sustainable practice (zero-waste) and the samples implemented using the flat pattern method, in favor of the strategies. There was also a statistically significant difference between the average assessment of the samples implemented using the Jigsaw strategy and Subtraction Cutting strategy, whereas there is no statistically significant difference between the average adjustment assessment for the sample implemented using the Tessellation strategy and the sample implemented using the flat method according to the opinions of the arbitrators. In light of the results of the study, several recommendations were presented, including the following: developing and updating the curricula that are taught to the students of clothing and textiles with the aim to meet the constant development in solving problems of production and implementation of clothing, paying attention to the environmental problems and contributing in solving them by teaching the different strategies related to the preparation of Zero Waste patterns for the students of the Department of Clothing and Textiles, as well as directing the ready-made garments factories to use modern technologies in the production of clothing to obtain the required efficiency in the garment product. Keywords: Zero-Waste, sustainable practice, clothes manufacture
