Abstract : English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers’ job satisfaction and their consequent relative levels of motivation have been widely researched in other contexts, but such research is lacking in Saudi Arabia. This study explores the levels of satisfaction with work aspects among female Saudi EFL teachers at prep year programs in Saudi universities. It also examines whether levels of satisfaction with each aspect of work has a relationship with teachers’ motivation. The sample consisted of 54 EFL teachers working at two Saudi universities with various job titles. Two methods were utilised to answer the research questions, a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. Areas of most satisfaction were found to be ‘Supervision’ and ‘Interpersonal Relationships’; whereas ‘Workload’, ‘Growth and Recognition’, ‘Salary’, and ‘Policies and Facilities’ were all found to be only moderately satisfying. The least satisfying aspect of work seemed to be ‘Nature of Work’. This study also established that there is indeed a relationship between the level of satisfaction with aspects of work and teachers’ motivation. Based on these findings, this study proposes recommendations that will hopefully enhance Saudi EFL teachers’ job satisfaction and motivation. Keywords: EFL Teachers, Job Satisfaction, Teacher Motivation.
