Abstract : This study describes a facile trend for preparation a chemical-thermal activation method for synthesized activated carbon (AC) from cost-effective palm-tree fiber agriculture waste (PTF) by chemical activation and thermal activation method. To investigate the adsorption efficiency of PTFAC for removal of Congo Red (CR), Rhodamine B (RhB)and Methylene blue (MB) dyes from wastewater the effective-ness of a different parameters such as adsorbent dosage, pH, initial dye concentration and contact time were investigated using batch experiments. The surface area, total pore volume, average pore diameter and pores size distribution of synthesized acti-vated carbon were examined by Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) N2 adsorption method. Zeta potential and Zero-point charge (pHzpc) of synthesized PTFAC and pH of the solution mixture were also measured. The morphology of the synthesized activated carbon at 400oC was examined by scanning electron microscope SEM and transmission electron microscope TEM. The results revealed that enhancement in ad-sorption capacity was observed at pH 2, with maximum adsorption capacity 4.99 mg/g, 9.79 mg/g and 26.58mg/g at 30 min contact time for MB dye, CR dye and RhB dye, respectively. The optimum adsorbent dosage of the PTFAC was 0.10 g with high percentage removal of dyes, moreover, for MB was 99.9 %, CR was 98.24 % and RhB was 99.86 %. The adsorption isotherm study found the adsorption pro-cess fitted well the Langmuir model and Langmuir maximum capacity were 29.58 mg/g for MB, 10.4 mg/g for CR and 26.5 mg/g for RhB. The adsorption kinetic study found the adsorption process obey Pseudo-second order model while the corre-lation coefficients (R2) of this reaction were 0.99, for CR, and 0.1, for RhB and MB dyes. In addition, the sample of environmental wastewater was examined by PTFAC adsorbent to remove anionic and cationic dyes and showed nearly complete uptake in the adsorption process. The reusability of PTFAC showed the ability of its regenera-tion until 5 cycles by using adjusted distilled water at pH 8.5 for desorption MB dye and pH 2.5 for desorption CR and RhB dye. This means that economical, renewable, and efficient adsorbent (PTFAC) prepared from agriculture waste could be used for the elimination of dyes from wastewater with the possibility of its regeneration.
