Abstract : Introduction and Research Problem: In view of the proliferation of embedded systems, the issue of storage and energy consumption has become crucial in the design of such systems. With a view to increasing their using time, the researchers turned their attention to wireless power supply or energy harvesting systems. The purpose of such processes is to provide a wireless power source capable of powering or assisting batteries. Materials and Methods: A spiral nano antenna for energy harvester system was proposed, which converts solar electromagnetic radiation into DC energy at infrared regime. Summary of Results The proposed research project aims to design an optical antenna operate at 28.3THz dedicated to infrared energy harvesting. A detailed parametric study of key parameters such as the initial angle at the origin arm, width of the spiral arms, gap between the two arms, thickness of substrate, length of substrate, thickness of patch and number of turns of the nano-antenna is also presented and discussed in order to collect maximum electric field in the gap of the spiral antenna in the frequency range of 28 – 29THz. The maximum electric field is simulated at 28.1THz, 28.3THz, 28.5THz and 28.7 THz. A variation of the electric field of the antenna for different value of incident wave angle at 28.3 THz has been simulated. Conclusion and Recommendations: An optical antenna for infrared energy harvesting system has been fabricated. A spiral antenna was chosen to collect a maximum IR electromagnetic radiation at 28.3 THz. The nano antenna has a circular polarization which allows it to capture infrared waves from different polarization.
