Abstract : Afia International Company is one of the largest edible oil companies in the Middle East. The economic impacts that the world is experiencing in the current situation, which led to an increase in the financial burden. Afia International Company has had to find a solution to reduce operational costs. In this thesis, Lean Six Sigma is used to optimize production-line processes. The Lean Six Sigma methodology includes five stages: (1) the definition stage, in which the problems, defects, and errors faced by production lines are identified; (2) the measurement stage, in which the problems and their related processes are measured through numbers and data; (3) the analysis stage, in which the process data are analyzed to identify the root causes of defects and problems; (4) the improvement stage, in which the processes are improved by finding solutions to repair and improve issues and to reduce and prevent future problems using statistical analysis tools; and (5) the monitoring stage, one of the most important stages, in which the monitoring tools necessary to perform the operations and maintain the applied improvements to the process in its new path are identified. Our goal is to identify the most common problems in production lines that cause waste, to identify the root causes of these problems, to reduce waste in production lines, and to improve processes in production lines, which will lead to an improvement in the QDI hat Afia International Company uses to control quality in production lines. The study succeeded in achieving all the desired objectives of applying Lean Six Sigma methodology. The waste caused by defective packages has been reduced by 29%, thus saving approximately 179 thousand riyals annually from one production line only, and the value of the QDI decreased by 11%.
