Abstract : Thi~ paper tries to highlight the size and scale of road accidents in Saudi Arabia in the international context, and at same time, it tries to revise what could be done in future to reduce the effect of road accidents and review what has taken place in many developed countries. However, many industrial countries have adopted Road Safety Targets and Targeted Road Safety Programs to improve road safety measures. This study reviews objectives of these programs to show the experience of those countries and highlights what lessons could be learned from their experience 10 draw a general framework and to develop a national strategy 10 reduce the effect of road accidents in Saudi Arabia.
