Abstract : This study seeks to recognize job satisfaction by Saudi doctors who are employed in public hospitals and primary health centers. The study aims to observe the factors of job satisfaction by the Saudi doctor in the health institution. This study relied on the social survey method for gathering data to reveal the range of doctors’ job satisfaction in their work place. The study applied on a sample of 233 male and female Saudi doctors who work in public hospitals and primary health care centers in Jeddah, and it used the Minnesota scale for job satisfaction as the main tool of the research for the connection between personal variables, such as gender, work place, age, social status, monthly income, job title specialization, years of service, and job satisfaction through four dimensions exemplified by work dimension, relationship with the supervisor, relationship with coworkers, and work policies. The study concluded that there is relationship between the variables of workplace, age, social status, monthly income, job title, specialization, years of service and job satisfaction. As for gender, the study did not reveal any relationship with job satisfaction. The most effective elements of job satisfaction were: For the first dimension of job satisfaction, mixing with doctors and the possibility of doing some duties for others were the most effective in this dimension. As for the second dimension of work relationship with the supervisor, the effective element is the direct treatment of the supervisor for his employees. For the third dimension of satisfaction with work relations, the effective element is team work. The most effective elements of the fourth dimension (satisfaction with work policies) were cost, means of securing a permanent job, and the opportunity of performing different job functions from time to time.
